2.0 – The Poäng Rig
2020 – 2021
This rig is used in front of an 80 inch projector screen and the main component is the popular Poäng Lounge Chair by IKEA. Since I wanted to keep on using that, I opted for a rolling rig that I could attach in front of the chair and stow away when not needed.
The base is the Classic Wheel Stand V2 (15 kg) by GT Omega, which I added a generic handbrake to. The spring tension is adjustable and data is transmitted to an Arduino board.
I used DashPanel to display some cockpit information on a discarded smartphone and a Stream Deck XL by Elgato as a freely customizable button box. I flew spaceships in Elite Dangerous but the main game for this rig was Euro Truck Simulator 2. However, it was during a session in WRC 9 when my trusty G25 wheel finally broke after more than ten years of excellent service.
